Update on airfried ribeye recipe.

For reference, these are the Aldi grassfed 2 packs.

450 degrees @ 5 mins a side for medium rare, 6 mins a side for medium.

Now my go-to for feeding the kids a quick meat dish high in omega-3s!

@viber Some people have told me I'm an idiot for making steaks in the air-fryer. It works surprisingly well. And, it's fast. ITM!

It's obviously not the best tasting way, but it's almost exactly the same amount of work as microwaving the thing.

Plus, if people are scared to ruin it, this way is super easy.

@viber @chanon I've had pretty good success using a bit of olive oil on the outside, or mayo if I don't have olive oil, then some seasoning blend. Once you figure out the correct temperature and length of time, it's consistent every time.

@viber
I immerse my ribeyes in hot water for 10 minutes (enclosed in a plastic bag), and then grill on my cast iron skillet for 3 minutes a side.

One of the best ones I did was when I baked an entire ribeye roast at 175F until the internal temp was 115F, and then cranked up the heat to 450F for 20 minutes to crisp-ify it nicely.

@IceCubeSoup @viber @chanon Yeah, the magic of a good crust. It's why those high-end steakhouses have ovens that go so darn high.
You can get a high temp broiler for your house...but you have to use it outside...

1500 degrees, just like the steakhouse

@Sirtruckdriver @IceCubeSoup @chanon @viber That's the way you do it! Have been tempted to get a pizza oven like that.

@Darren
Pizza oven rocks. Haven't done a steak in it yet.

@IceCubeSoup @viber @Sirtruckdriver @chanon

Guess what came in the mail today. Can't try it as I'm getting ready to go back to work. Easy assembly. Took me 5 minutes.

Yeah, it's chinesium but it should work for its intended purpose...

@Sirtruckdriver
Nice!
I'm curious if it is as good as it sounded.

@IceCubeSoup @viber @chanon @Darren

sadly, i wont get to try it for another 3 weeks. im hoping its worth it. got on an amazon deal for $110. regular price is $129.

@Sirtruckdriver

That's pretty cheap, and looks pretty well designed!

@viber
I'm lying actually, I ruined my cast iron skillet about a month ago, by allowing a black plastic spatula to melt and cover half of the surface. 😂

So now I'm using my stainless steel skillet, which is easy to clean at least. I just put some water in it, and sprinkle in some dishwasher powder, and let it soak.

@Darren @chanon

@IceCubeSoup @viber @chanon It's been a while since I melted one, but it happens to us all!

@Darren
the smoke is so nasty.

it happened to me once before, and it was way worse because the stove was on high that time. the smoke was horrible. It's a good thing I don't have birds as pets, it might have been a fatality.

@viber @chanon

@IceCubeSoup @viber @chanon Yeah, releasing some pretty toxic stuff melting that!

@viber
addendum: It took at least 4 hours in the oven, maybe more, to roast that roast. I was surprised, but no complaints. I think the slowness really brought out the deliciousness.

@Darren @chanon

@IceCubeSoup

Now that you mention it, the way to improve the airfry method might be a torch.

I don't want a skillet, because of the smoke in the house, but a quick blow from the pipe torch might finish it nicely!
