@PNS Tackled this years ago. Either I feel like it or I don't. If I don't then I gave the cart person work and often they're a kid getting their first taste of responsibility and first paycheck, or a low functioning adult where this is the one of scant means they can be employed and contribute to society. By not returning the cart I become a job creator and thus must find other more noble means to set my moral compass to besides a mere shopping cart.
@ZeroSum06 @PNS That’s true. I guess I can feel free to piss all over a public toilet seat and floor to give a low functioning janitor a job too. And on top of that I can convince myself I’m a good person for doing so.
@Stuxnet1984 @PNS you sure could do that, either way the janitor still has to clean regular pee splash, paper towel waste and overall germs/bacteria in addition to refilling soap, supplies, etc, like the shopping carts though it too is not a viable metric for one to set their moral compass to
@ZeroSum06 @PNS I think people are lazy and they condor up anything they can to justify their laziness and avoid even the simplest responsibility.
@Stuxnet1984 @PNS still doesn't change the fact that it's not a responsibility nor an accurate measure of what's really a subjective matter, the real discussion is this- how devoid of morality is society where people use shopping carts as a metric of it's measure?
@ZeroSum06 @PNS No one is relying on this one example to check the moral pulse of society. It is just one of many indicators used to measure overall common decency, if people are thinking of others or themselves and the level of overall conscientiousness. Stock traders do the same thing and they call it ‘indicators’. If someone will return a lost wallet, let someone over in traffic, throw trash in a trash can. I’ve traveled a lot and shit countries have no common decency.
@Stuxnet1984 @PNS Well it's still just 1 very subjective at best metric. When I find a stray errant cart I see it as a blessing, I don't have to go to the area they round them up. Why? Am I tired? Already hit my step goal? In a rush? That's no one's business but my own.
