@icedquinn I was wondering aloud in a text chat the other day about cameras/sensors that can capture the entire sensor at once instead of line by line, and my friend said he has a few of the "three stacked CCD" pro camcorders.

I'm not sure he understood what i was asking about, so i am unsure if merely having no rolling shutter is the same as the full sensor read at the same time

anyhow good luck on your contemplations

@picofarad i don't know as much about the hardware side. i do know the electronic-only shutters were tried and people didn't like how they caused some light streaks.

getting data out of the sensor seems to be something about how quickly the bus is actually able to shuttle the pixels out. it gets harder when you're doing 4k60 type shit.

@icedquinn Yeah i wasn't concerned about framerate or resolution, just if such a thing existed at all.

I have a mirrorless that can do 1200fps... at 320x120 :-D Nikon 1 V1; for example, and it's like 12 years old.

I just like the technology, it doesn't need to be open gate 60fps
