Constitutional Conservatives can't wrap their heads around the fact that the "founding fathers" had no authority to bind the people alive at the time to their political whims with some made up document, let alone the generations that follow.

No understanding of consent or authority.

The State could put them in an iron cage for something they didn't do, and they'll continue to go on about how "the Constitution is the greatest document ever, we must support it!"

@eriner

The Federal Constitution is limited in what is allowed. 90% of what the gubmint does is unconstitutional.

The founding fathers did NOT bind the people to their whims. The Constitution is a confederation of States. we are the united STATES of America.

How people decide to live in thier geographic area called a State is up to them.

We need to end the abuse of the Constituion and follow it. This means encouraging interstate commerce and allowing for the DEFENSE of the members.

@Arthur_500

> but almost all of them are willing to die on Constitution Hill, despite their present circumstance.

I rest my case.

@eriner @Arthur_500 the civil war has more importance for how the country is actually run than that piece of parchment: just force.
Matt Hamilton

@sun @Arthur_500 for real. Some states wanted to leave, and Abraham Lincoln informed them that this "voluntary union" will be held together with violence. :pepe_terror:

@eriner @Arthur_500 "perpetual union" was established "we hope this works out" verbiage of the era, not "you can never leave or we kill your kids".

@sun @Arthur_500 the vast majority of people believe the Civil war was about slavery. The propaganda is so deep. It's so depressing, man.

@eriner @sun @Arthur_500 Got any propaganda-free book recommendations for civil war history?

@eriner @sun @Arthur_500 don’t watch the Apple TV show about Lincoln’s assassination lol

@brad @eriner @sun

Is it the same quality as the book about Lincoln written by that douchebag from Fox News?

@sun @eriner

Please study your history before you pontificate

@Arthur_500 @eriner I read the opinions of a bunch of constitutional scholars and I agreed with the one that provided receipts.

@sun @Arthur_500 I don't think you two are even disagreeing with each other... :/

@eriner @Arthur_500 yeajh I think just a misunderstanding

@sun @eriner

Constitutional scholars? You mean like Barak Obama?😂

Here's a thought, go read the source documents. Maybe the Cornerstone Speech, for example. Or the States conventions. Or modern left-wing scholars such as Fogel and Engerman

@Arthur_500 @eriner I have! A lot of people were told, explicitly, that you could leave. They voted thinking they could leave later if the people wanted.
@Arthur_500 @eriner sorry I butted in your thread though, have a nice night I'm gonna annoy some other people.

@eriner @sun

AFTER Lincoln waged war on the Confederate States of America, other states decided to leave the Union.

Lincoln held the maryland Legislature in house arrest so they couldn't vote to seceede. Delaware and Pennsylvania felt cut off and did not vote to seceede.

Perpetual Union was a Lincoln invention to steal the mopney from the area of the Country that brought in the taxes.
